NAYLAND SCHOOL HSA

NAYLAND SCHOOL HSA
Annual School Ball – Friday 15 October, Le Talbooth
There are still about 20 tickets left for this lovely evening.  If you had been thinking about coming, please do book your tickets and support this fund-raising event. It is always a great night out and has over the years raised a lot of money for the school. The outdoor play equipment is a great example. It was bought with the proceeds of the 2008 School Ball.
You don’t need to come as part of a large group there are lots of mixed tables of twos and fours. If you are new to the school or Woodland Corner it’s a great way to meet other new parents.  Everybody is very welcome,
Tickets are £40.00 and include a glass of champagne on arrival, 3 course dinner, auction & disco. Tickets are available from the school office.

Fun at the Nayland Festival

The Nayland Festival weekend this weekend (17th-19th September) was a huge success all round – and Woodland Corner was pleased to be involved by organising the Duck Race, doing a slot for the flower show, producing a scarecrow for the Scarecrow Competition and also holding our regular fundraising cake sale on the Saturday morning!!

Huge thanks to all the staff, parents, children and committee who helped in all these activities. The duck race was great fun – we sold all 92 ducks and Fen Street was thronged with people cheering their ducks on to the finish! Congratulations to Alex Lee Smith who was the ultimate winner. The flower display (a creatively decorated toy digger!) and the innovative Buzz Lightyear Scarecrow kept the children occupied for the week before the festival – much fun was had by them and the staff! Woodland Corner's scarecrow was beaten into second place, however, by one of our children - Millie Tasker - who had made a fantastic effort.

And finally the Cake Stall had its usual abundance of beautiful homemade cakes thanks to our massively generous supporters. In total we raised well over £200 for Woodland Corner over the course of the weekend – so once again thank you to all.

Playgroup's Visit to Nayland Airfield

On Thursday 16th September the children and their parents, grandparents and carers went to visit Nayland Airfield.
We met Will and Rachel Hitchcock and Will showed us his 1946 Aeronca Champion. He then took off and flew a great circle around the valley waggling the Plane’s wings to wave at us, before landing to the clapping and cheers of the children! Each child had the opportunity to sit in the cockpit and try on the pilot’s ear protectors. We were able to go and look at the seven other planes in the hanger; it was very exciting to see the planes close up.

Our thanks go to Will and Rachel Hitchcock and Tony at the airfield and to Jules Wormington for being our official photographer.

Visit to Nayland Airfield

On Thursday 16th September Nayland Playgroup children and their parents/carers are invited on a visit to Nayland Airfield as part of our "Transport" learning theme this term.
One of our parents has kindly agreed to show us his light aircraft and will be flying it for us so the children can experience seeing a plane taking off and landing close up!
Weather permitting, we will leave Woodland Corner at 9.30am and return in time for the end of the morning session at 12.15. We hope that as many children and their parents/carers as possible will join us; however we are unable to transport unaccompanied children to the airfield, for health and safety reasons. If your child normally attends on a Thursday and this causes you difficulty please speak to Mel or Sue.
In the event of bad weather the visit will be cancelled and a normal, morning Playgroup session will proceed.
Please indicate whether you and your child will be attending to Woodland Corner Staff asap.
